Fundacion Natutama Joins the Anniversary Parade

We received some lovely pictures recently from Natūtama, the environmental education charity based in Colombia’s Amazonas region.

” The April Ist anniversary of the municipio is always an occasion for the team to show what will be the theme for Natutama week in August,” writes Sarita Kendall, director.

“The Beru butterfly and the Yacuruna are local story figues related to Ticuna mythology”.

Natütama educators use traditional myths, legends and culture relating to the natural world in their workshops and meetings with local children and communities.  They help to demonstrate and explain the importance of protecting this very specialised and delicate ecological environment.  The Amazon is home to some of the world’s most endangered rare species such as the river dolphins and manatees.
