Natutama Unveils Exciting New Plans for 2016
Natütama Foundation has great plans to expand its environmental education and research projects in 2016 and to encourage local people to take a greater part in the running of its centre in the Colombian Amazon.
Two expeditions are planned, the first to the River Cotohue including talks with local elders about dolphins, manatees, pirarucú and cultural themes, as well as education work with children and the other to one of the inner lakes of the Tarapoto system.
New ventures for 2016 include radiio programmes, theatre and audio material all in addition to Natutama's main education, conservation and monitoring work. This will concentrate on two main themes in the coming year: fish and fishing - as netting is more widely used other fishing methods are being lost in this area - and on climate change which has become a major concern for local people.
Children of Colombia hopes to help fund some of these projects in the coming year - but we depend on your very valued support. If you would like to donate to any of Natutama's 2016 projects, or to help repair their beautifully constructed Interpretation Centre which was built by local Indians using traditional materials and construction methods, please send your donation via the Just Giving link at the top of the page.
