Conservation in the Colombian Amazon
The Natütama Foundation is a non-profit organisation that works in the Colombian Amazon developing research, education and conservation projects with the community of Puerto Nariño. Here are some pictures of the Visitor Centre located a short walk from the village taken on Children of Colombia's Secretary Gwyneth's recent visit.
Dance, drama, art and games are all used to teach youngsters about the environment and how to preserve it for the future. Two permanent exhibitions - the Beach at Night and the Flooded Forest - give useful information about local traditions and myths as well as the Amazonian eco-system.
